Adult Grappling in Brooklyn
Adult Grappling Classes in Brooklyn, NY
Grappling is the art of leverage. Instead of relying on size or aggression, you learn position, timing and control — how to stay calm under pressure and solve a problem with technique. At TD Athletics, grappling is taught step by step so a first-day beginner and an experienced athlete can train on the same mat and both leave better.

Who it's for
Is Adult Grappling right for you?
- Complete beginners who have never stepped on a mat

Your first visit
What beginners should expect
Your first class starts with a warm-up, then a technique of the day broken into small pieces and drilled with a partner at a controlled pace. Nobody throws you into hard rounds on day one. You don't need to be flexible, strong or in shape to start — you get in shape by training.
Benefits
What Adult Grappling builds
Practical self-defense
Control distance, escape bad positions and defend yourself on the ground — where most people are least prepared.
Full-body conditioning
Live rounds build grip strength, core stability and endurance without a single boring machine set.
Problem-solving under pressure
Grappling is physical chess. You learn to think clearly while tired and uncomfortable.
Measurable progress
Techniques stack on each other. You can feel the difference between week one and month three.

Adult Grappling questions
Is grappling beginner friendly?
Yes. Technique is drilled slowly with a cooperative partner before any live training, and most people in the room started exactly where you are.
What should I wear to my first grappling class?
Athletic clothing without zippers or pockets, plus water and a towel. The team will tell you what to get once you've started.
Is grappling the same as MMA?
No. Grappling covers takedowns, control and submissions. MMA combines grappling with striking. Many students train both here.
